DESTRY HORTON INTEGRIS BURN CENTER ICU MEMORIAL FUND

It has been 20 years since the Paul Silverstein Burn Center ICU at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center was last renovated. While adequate at the time, the room layout is very cumbersome for the needs of nursing and physician staff treating critically injured burn patients. Destry Horton's struggle brought this issue to the forefront and in his honor, a newly renovated ICU is planned. A proposed renovation will result in four Burn Center ICU rooms with a central nurse station to provide better work-flow for staff, more efficient visual monitoring of patients, space for advanced medical equipment, and improved accommodations for the patient's family. This project is vital to continue the high quality intensive care needed for critically injured burn patients. Renovation of the Burn Center ICU will move the current facility from functional and adequate to a state-of-the-art ICU that meets or exceeds the needs of our patients.
We need your help to raise $500,000 to match the Noble Foundation's generous gift for this project. Please join in this effort with a fund drive that will begin on July 18, 2008. You may donate on your own or also help by asking your own departments or even contact your local newspaper to help publicize the event kick-off. Please contact Destry's mother, Jeri Thomas for any help or information you need. She can be reached at jeri@tbip.net or 405-476-0321. Thank you for your support!
